Ellie and I went to our local 4
th of July concert and fireworks display last night (unfortunately, Annette had to work). We spent the first half of the program on the lawn, but we stood up and went over to the orchestra for the second half when her tummy bothered her. That turned out to be a surprisingly good move; she got a close look at the brass, winds, and percussion. She was especially fascinated by the timpani...perhaps we have a 3rd generation percussionist on our hands! As the
1812 Overture came to its bombastic conclusion, I was ready to bolt at the first sign that Ellie was afraid of the fireworks, but she was rapt. She stared at them intently until we left. She had a great first concert and fireworks show!
