Child care friends

After a somewhat lazy summer of just one kid in full-time care (besides my own Ellie, or course!), my program is starting back up in a big way. We have a new 5-month old baby part-time, a 4-year old part-time, and a 17-month old full-time in addition to my usual full-time 2-year old and my one-morning-a-week 4-year old. We're settling in pretty well so far, though next week will be when all the kids come on their fall schedules. Ellie's having lots of fun with her new friends, but I can use all the good wishes I can get!

"My Bubba!"

Ellie loves "Bubba," her special lovey that was made for her by her godmother, Auntie Trista.

First lemonade

Run, rooster, run!

Goat girl

I've never met a kid who loves goats as much as Ellie loves them. She's definitely a Capricorn.

Leaning to swing by herself

That 4th photo is Ellie's first real solo swing. We didn't know she could hop on by herself; we looked over and saw her flying through the air while singing her trademark swinging song, "Swing, swing; swing, swing." Craziness! Unfortunately, Ellie got the swing placement a little low on this first try and wound up head-first in the dirt just after this photo was taken. She wasn't rattled at all--she stood up, spit out the dirt, and went on playing. What a kid!

Light in a tunnel

And now back to our regularly scheduled programming

On Sunday we went out to a local u-pick farm to see their goats, play on their playground, and eat some blueberry doughnuts. These are some of the playground pics with goats, lemonade, and swinging by herself to follow.

This is why I read travel books.

On Friday night we finished up our vacation at the Chatham Band Concert. (Yes, I totally read about it in travelogues and wanted to go!) We went over to Chatham around 10:30am to set out our blanket, then came back around 7:30pm to enjoy the show. There was waltzing, singing, marching, and bunny hopping...it was a wonderful night!

Saying goodbye to Auntie Jenny

Ellie was really sad to say goodbye to her auntie. She's talked about her nonstop for the past several days...looks like a trip to Boston is in order!

Playing with Mumzy

Chasing seagulls

She likes hermit crabs, too

Ellie likes horseshoe crabs
