Ellie and Her Fur Siblings

Here's our sweet kitty Josephine rubbing up against Ellie and me one night before bedtime. Josie comes to Ellie whenever she cries and tries to comfort her by rubbing on her and purring.

Here's Clara protecting her little sister. Clara's great with all the kids, but she's especially gentle and sweet with Ellie. Just before we took this picture, Clara brought Ellie her rope bone (you can see it in the photo--be assured that Annette and I didn't give the baby a dog toy to play with!), then rested beside her. Clara likes to be wherever Ellie is, and if she hears something strange on the street, she stands in front of Ellie and barks her low, deep bark. Fortunately, Ellie shows no sign of being afraid of Clara.

And finally, here's Annette holding Reuben and Ellie! Reuben's got a few pounds on Ellie in this picture, which makes me laugh. Reuben likes when Ellie pets him, though he doesn't seek her out the way the other furbabies do. You can see that Ellie likes him a lot, though--she's smiling like a champ after petting her fur brother's paw! (A side note: Ellie's right palm is black in this picture because we'd just attempted to get her handprint. I say "attempted" because it didn't go well at all. We took a cue from Ellie's nurses and got her footprints instead...much easier!)
